2025 plans

I changed jobs at the end of 2024 and I’ve never had more work flexibility than I do now, and I am currently scheming on how to take the fullest advantage of it. Basically, for the past 6 years, I’ve been tied to the Bay nearly full-time through a combination of romantic and professional attachments that are too boring to go into so suffice to say, I was sitting on the sidelines just seething with envy from 2020-2022ish as I watched my friends live their best remote life. Even as I enter my mid-30s and start thinking about “settling down”, blah blah — somehow this has always felt like something I “had to experience” first. Basically, get it out of my system. Or maybe not. Maybe I’ll like this nomadic-ish life and end up doing it forever. Maybe I’ll get tired of it, get married, and raise 4 children on a farm on the Big Island of Hawaii. Who knows! That’s the exciting part.

So I planned this year by basically making list of all the adventures I’ve wanted to do and then figuring out how to fit as many as possible into a year. It’s not going to be the most budget-friendly year, but I’m very blessed to be able to house-sit for my parents while they’re in Taiwan and so be able to off-set some of the bigger spending months with rent-free months laying low in the Bay.

Trips I’m planning this year

One of the best things is that I’m getting to do two of these bucket list trips with my dad — rafting the Middle Fork of the Salmon River and also hiking the Alta Via 1 in the Dolomites in Italy.
